Now it’s time to add sound to our exercises.

Wordcard and Word Phrases are in essence the same. We responded to a request from a teacher to practice sentences as well as vocabulary items and added the Word Phrases exercise. Mix ‘n’ Match is actually another text only exercise, but we put it in this section because it is made simultaneously with Wordcard.

Text and Sound

We have chosen to use Flash for the sound files because this means that the student doesn’t have to install anything. 95+% of all computers worldwide have Flash Player already installed. One of the main design ideas behind OLEM is that the student doesn’t have to install anything at all - just connect to the Internet and it works!

Flash sound recorders are not so common as mp3 recorders, but go to the download centre and you can download a reasonably priced recorder for making the swf sound files.
