Introduction

OLEM is a very simple system. But in order to be very simple there are some rules and procedures to follow.

In brief, these rules and procedures are as follows:

  • only jpg graphics are accepted.
  • most jpgs should be 130 x 130 pixels.
  • only swf sound files are accepted.
  • when using the file upload method the text files must be saved as utf8.

Data is automatically saved as utf8 when you use the online data forms.

OLEM uses utf8 txt files for text, jpg files for graphics, and swf files for sound recordings. That’s it!

We use 2 default fonts, Tahoma and Code2000.

Exercises can be made by putting the information into the online data form, or by uploading txt files directly into the system. In the tutorials we will begin by using the data forms and then include the file upload facility.

The data entry method is easier to start with, but we consider the file upload method to be quicker and good for keeping a backup of your work. Choose the method that suits you best.

The data for the exercises is stored in a database. You can make changes to your exercises by editing the database directly online.

If you want to put an exercise into some online training, then this is easily done by adding an html iframe to the page and a couple of lines of code to tell the iframe where to look for your exercise.

When you have learned these rules and procedures you will be able make professional quality exercises very quickly and easily.

Let’s start working through the tutorials...

Enjoy!
